Blades, De. (DELMARVA NEWS NOW) — Troopers have arrested two women who sprayed a victim’s eyes with chemicals then stole his wallet.
The incident happened back on Saturday, July 27 just before noon in the 8000 block of Concord Road in Blades. Troopers say a 50-year-old male resident said two women came to his residence demanding money. He said he knew one of them, 30-year-old Nicole Griffith of Laurel. She claimed to be the mother of one of his children. Griffith and the other female, 24-year-old Jamie Hawkins of Seaford then sprayed the man in the eyes with a chemical. They then struck him, reached in his pocket and stole his wallet. Troopers say the victim sustained minor injuries including burning and swelling to the eyes. He was treated by officials on scene.
On Thursday, Troopers apprehended Griffith and Hawkins at the Sunrise Motel on Sussex Highway in Seaford. They were both charged with First Degree Robbery, Second Degree Assault, Second Degree Conspiracy, Theft, Offensive Touching and Criminal Trespass. The women were arraigned and committed to the Delores Baylor Women’s Correctional Institution in New Castle on 63,150 dollars cash only bond each.
