OCPD: Motorcyclist Who Fled Traffic Stop Dies in Crash

Ocean City, Md. (DELMARVA NEWS NOW) — A motorcyclist has died following a Tuesday evening crash on Coastal Highway in Ocean City.

The Ocean City Police Department says the accident happened around 9:44 p.m. at the intersection of Coastal Highway (Route 528) and 59th Street. The motorcyclist reportedly ran a red light, colliding with a Ford Explorer SUV that was attempting to make a U-turn onto northbound 528. OCPD says that motorcycle was involved in an attempted traffic stop at 45th street.

The motorcyclist, identified as Brian Douglas II of Mechanicsville in St. Mary’s County was pronounced dead at the scene. The three occupants of the Ford Explorer did not sustain injuries.

The Northbound lanes of Coastal Highway were shut down for several hours while the crash was investigated and cleared.
