Mail Truck Involved in Serious Crash in Laurel

Delaware State Police are investigating a serious crash that took place in Laurel on Monday afternoon.

Troopers say the crash happened around 5:19 p.m. when a U.S. Mail Truck crossed over the center line of Laurel Road (State Road 24), colliding near-head on with a 2017 Ram ProMaster 2500 series, just east of Prettyman Avenue.

The Ram driver, a 44-year-old Millsboro man and a male passenger from Frankford were properly restrained but sustained injuries. They were transported to Nanticoke Memorial Hospital and treated and released.

The mail truck operator, a 40-year-old Salisbury man was properly restrained and transported to Christiana Hospital for treatment of serious injuries.

Laurel Road was shut down for around four hours while the crash was investigated and cleared.
