Delaware State Police are investigating a Monday evening robbery at a Sussex County home.
Troopers were dispatched to a residence in the 22000 block of Danfield Drive in Harbeson around 7:42 p.m. Troopers say a white female with pink hair knocked on the side door and told the 31-year-old female resident she had run out of gas. Immediately after, two black males with their faces covered entered the residence with black semi-automatic handguns. A 49-year-old female resident attempted to call 9-1-1, but the suspects took her phone. One of the suspects proceeded to the back of the home at which point he came in contact with a 51-year-old male resident. According to police, the suspect struck the male resident over the head with the weapon and demanded money. The victim turned over an undisclosed amount of cash.
The suspect and the 51-year-old male resident ended up outside of the house, while the other suspect remained inside arguing with the 49-year-old female, who was preventing the suspect from entering a locked bathroom, where a 21-year-old female resident was hiding. The 31-year-old female resident was able to exit the residence with her two children, ages 8 and 9. The 51-year-old male resident ran back inside and locked the door. The suspect who was outside then kicked in the door and re-entered the home. He then fired one round from his weapon, striking a wall. Both suspects then fled in an unknown direction.
The 51-year-old male resident sustained minor injuries and was treated at a hospital. The five other residents did not sustain injuries. There is no information on a suspect and the investigation, led by Delaware State Police out of Troop 4 in Georgetown is ongoing. Anyone with information should contact Detective C. Simpson at (302) 856-5850 or Delaware Crime Stoppers at 1-800-TIP-3333 or http://www.delaware.crimestoppersweb.com
