Despite Reports, No Incident at Christiana Mall

(DELMARVA NEWS NOW) — Delaware State Police say the reports of an incident occurring at the Christiana Mall on Monday evening were unfounded, and after a search of the facility, they confirmed no immediate threat.

Around 5:45 p.m. there were reports of an unspecified incident at the shopping center located in Newark, New Castle County. Troopers already on site determined there was “nothing occurring within the mall or surrounding sites.” State Police say for that reason “there was no evacuation or interruption to normal operations within the mall complex.”

Social media accounts say there was a panic inside the mall with one user saying “everyone started running out and streaming.” Others posted moments after the reports, claiming an active shooter situation.
