Out of an abundance of caution, Peninsula Regional Health System has announced restrictive visitation policies at two of their nursing home facilities in Somerset County.
Tawes Nursing Home and Chesapeake Cove Assisted Living in Crisfield will now restrict visitation to one person, per visit, per resident and only allow those above the age of 18. All visitors will be screened to determine whether they have cold, flu-like or respiratory symptoms and be asked about international travel or contact with sick persons.
Kathleen Harrison, President of the McCready Foundation said “With the traditional flu season active on the Delmarva Peninsula, and many of our residents at an age most vulnerable to COVID-19, we’re asking members of our community to please remember the important role they play in protecting both residents, staff and other visitors from contracting or spreading any illness.
Officials say this will be the standard at these facilities for the foreseeable future.
