50 Firefighters Battle House Fire in Denton


Denton, Md. (DELMARVA NEWS NOW) — The Maryland State Fire Marshal is investigating a fire that broke out on the porch of a home in Denton on Thursday evening.

The blaze broke out around 11 p.m. at a single story home in the 20000 block of Butler Court in Denton. 50 firefighters primarily with the Queen Anne – Hillsboro Volunteer Fire Company responded, getting the fire under control within 30 minutes.

An occupant of the home discovered the fire on the exterior of the porch. Officials say 140,000 dollars in structure damage was caused, with 20,000 dollars in damage to it’s contents. The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
